Solving water and environmental problems often requires integration of
various aspects, such as conjunctive use of ground water and surface water,
water quantity and quality, irrigation water demand, water use conflicts,
environmental and socio-economic aspects, and integration of the natural
systems into human (political and institutional) systems.
The particular advantage to customers of DHI's services is the
combination of cutting-edge expertise coupled with state-of the-art
decision support tools to assist in the policy analysis and strategic
planning of water and environmental resources, ranging from detailed
issue-specific water and environmental assessments, over river basin or
coastal zone management issues, to broad-scale national policy and
planning.
DHI has achieved a leading position within the field of integrated
management of land and water resources - we have contributed to defining
IWRM approaches and pioneered their application through support to national
planning processes. DHI hosts a number of international knowledge centres -
run in cooperation with Global Water Partnership, UNEP and WHO - dedicated
to working towards integrated management of water, environmental and
coastal resources.
DHI has a long tradition for and commitment to close co-operation with
customers on technology transfer and capacity building - in the form of
formal courses as well as on-the-job coaching. We have developed a suite of
regularly scheduled vocational training courses to cover most aspects of
water and environmental management. If need be, we tailor-make courses to
focus on exactly the issues that participants want to address.
